Jamie Barnes is a clinical exercise physiologist who has spent the past seven years working in a private physiotherapy practice south of Melbourne. His professional experience spans across a number of settings, including physical preparation for athletes, acute hospital care, and community health.

Jim Leo is the founder and President of PitFit Training. He has been developing training programs for drivers of all levels for over 25 years. PitFit Training is based in Indianapolis with a second location in Charlotte, NC.

About Dr. Michael Reid
Dr. Reid is an academic research scientist (cardiopulmonary, muscle biology) and educator with 14 yrs clinical/ER/ICU experience in respiratory therapy. He is also an HPDE driver and instructor since 2002.

About Dr. David Ferguson
Dr. Ferguson is an exercise physiologist at Michigan State University specializing in motorsport. With over 15 years of experience in professional auto racing, Dr. Ferguson’s forte is supporting racing drivers by helping them improve their performance while staying safe.

He began his journey by earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Following this, he earned a Masters of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. During this time, he began working with NASCAR pit crews to improve their health and performance. He went on to earn a PhD in Exercise Physiology from Texas A&M University and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Nutrition and Cardiovascular Physiology at Baylor College of Medicine. He has published key scientific papers on driver science and written a book on the topic. His expertise supported drivers in the winning of 3 NASCAR Cup Championships, an IMSA Sports Car Championship and 2 Formula 1 World Championships. He has also helped drivers win notable races such as the Daytona 500, 24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours of Daytona, and the Baja 1000.

Mark will cover the need to include all elements of the medical and rescue response and make each person ask the question what they will do to get their team to the level it needs to be at. You will learn more about the challenges for motorsport training and how we might be able to overcome them with innovation and simulation. You don’t want to miss it!

Mark Brennan is the Director and Crew Chief of Motorsport Rescue Services in Ireland. He has over 25 years of experience in vehicle extrication and pre-hospital care. A qualified Emergency Medical Technician, pre-hospital care instructor and Road Traffic Collision Instructor. Trustee, assessor and trauma coordinator for Rescue Organisation Ireland and assessor and help with the trauma challenge for the World Rescue Challenge in the World Rescue Organisation. He has been running his own training business, Immersive Medical & Rescue Training for 6 years.
